About

Andreas was born and raised in Tromsø (Norway), and his most prominent passions in life include songwriting, music production and rock/pop from the 50s up to the present day.

His first full length album, Fredløs, was released in 2019.

The third installment in the Fredløs trilogy, “Maelstrom“,  was released in january of 2024.

In addition to the 3 “Fredløs” albums, he has also released 24 singles on the major streaming platforms.

The Fredløs series is inspired by (but not limited to) the concept album format of classic rock.

However, any comparison or similarity ends there.

It’s impossible to place the  Fredløs album series in only one musical genre.

Americana, punk, alternative rock, classic rock, grunge, indie rock are genres that others have used to describe the Fredløs songs, but are still only occasionally covering or descriptive.

The Fredløs universe (and its mythology, for that matter) is kind of a cross-section containing all popular cultural references that I have been fascinated by at some point in life. A dash of black magic, superstition, rock’n’roll, traveling freak shows and counterculture, four chord pop/rock in the style of Ramones.

But I find it difficult to use traditional genres to describe my music, perhaps precisely because I am inspired by everything. I’ve been playing a lot of slide guitar and dobro/resonator guitar lately. Simply because it’s fun, and also because I’m a sucker for classic country and blues.

At the same time, I’ve always loved that kind of rock’n’roll that takes you by surprise and challenge everything you think you know and flips it 180 degrees into a completely new perspective. Rock and roll is supposed to be dangerous.

When it feels like you’re being struck by lightning, getting a falling grand piano right in your head, or being run over by a steamroller with no brakes…with Roky Erickson and Little Richard behind the wheel…well, that’s a goal worth reaching for, right?

Andreas is currently working on a new album with English lyrics, set for release in early 2025.
